This short film tells the story of Japanese-born, woman-artist Sayako Dairiki and her cat Ku Chan, Wool Sucker examines the transformative power of so-called “women’s work” such as mending and care-taking. It also shows the power of the protagonist's relationship with both the land where she currently lives in California and her ancestral home in Japan. This is the story of an immigrant woman claiming her voice as an artist as she opens her mind to collaboration with the more than human world. (Run time, 16.3 minutes)
